I think that the way immigrants are handled is terrible. These people have traveled across their countries and maybe even the world. And they come here for a new world with "gold roads" but find they aren't allowed here and can't stay. It's a terrible treatment for someone who has struggled and fought for so long for a good life. Speaking of immigration, I participated in an immigration poetry contest and I got third place. It was so cool and I felt so amazing to achieve something like that. This is my poem called We See You.

We See You

We see you

We see your worn face

We see your empty smile

We see your desperate body that is about to collapse

But you don’t collapse

Your strength inside screams

As you give everything for the one thing you don’t have

Your determination hollers

Your bravery yells

As the dents in your soul dig deeper

The horrifying memories in your mind return

All the things you lost flee farther and farther away

The bombs are louder

The deaths of your loved ones are more existent

And you realize the life you once had really is gone

All the blood, sweat, and tears you have given show

The ones you have given for this country

So, we see you

We see your new home

We see your grateful family

We see your kind neighbors greeting you

Because we are a welcoming nation that is made with open arms

A land full of diversity

So I say America is a true nation

And a nation without immigrants, isn’t a true nation at all
