Reflections again!

Last year I did Life of a Tree. This year, I made another one. This year it's called Floating Above Everything. So far I have made it to state. Here it is:

Chapter 1

It All Changed

The blue sky around me. The yellow sun above me. The earth below me. The peacefulness is relaxing. I float around the world fluffy and white. You might know me as a cloud. And when you look up to me while laying on the ground I might just be looking at you. I observe everything, I think about everything, and I wonder about everything. And what I have realized is that everything has changed.

Chapter 2

The Great West Prairie

When I was young I floated over the prairie. It was beautiful. The grass was everywhere but you could barely see it because of bison. Don’t get me started on the bison. They were weird. Always fighting like kids in preschool. They always stuck out their tongues like they were taunting each other. Then they fought, oh my they always fought. When their horns collided you could feel the vibrations. I swore once I saw the sun shake. I always enjoyed seeing the battles. My other friends always joined in too. We would see who would win and then watch them play someone else. Quick tip, don’t ever bet on the small one.

After a little while, I wanted to come back and see more battles. But what I saw was horrible. White hunters, like William “Buffalo Bill” Cody, were hunting and killing them. They were on horses chasing them through the prairie. When they killed the bison they stacked the bones and put them on trains.

I watched the Native Americans as they starved. They held their stomachs by the fire praying for something to eat. They had food but, without the bison, they didn’t have enough. It offset their diet and when they needed a big meal the most it wasn’t there. One by one they died out. The elders, the adults, the children, the infants. No one even cared. No white person thought to try to help and even if they did, nothing happened.

I flew over what used to be the prairie but it changed. It was farmland. There were crops everywhere. It just looked like squares outlined. I looked and looked but there were no Native Americans. There were no more bison.

Chapter 3

The Arctic

Once I floated north and found myself in the Arctic. I had a quick trip, the breeze was brisk. I felt a shiver go through my body while watching the Polar Bears trudge through the snow. I was especially interested in a family of Polar Bears. The mother paid so much attention to her cubs. And even though I couldn’t see her face I knew she felt so much passion for them. Every day she went to get food for her growing cubs. They grew to be passionate too and learned life-changing lessons that made them better. It was unbelievable to watch.

Later, I went back to visit her again. But, the only thing that I saw was water for miles. The ice was apart in pieces in the areas they used to be attached. The worst part was I couldn’t find the mama Polar Bear where she used to be. Come to think of it, I could barely find any Polar Bears.

The tall glaciers slowly broke off bit by bit. Each made a bigger impact than the one before. Then, they just flowed with the ocean making the water rise. And, when some came back they were more than half the size when they left. I sighed heavily at what I knew was none other than climate change.

Chapter 4

The Oceans

Once in a while, I float over the oceans. I do it sometimes, but usually, I try to go on land. I think it’s more interesting. But, once in a while, I go to the oceans and watch the dolphins swim. The noises they made were annoying, amusing, but somewhat caring. Did you know that Dolphins give each other names? Unbelievable, right? I always loved their jumps. My friends and I always acted as judges. It was fun. I was a softy and always gave out tens even to the rough impacts.

Once I wanted to go back to Hawaii and on the way I might see some dolphins. I was excited to see Clicker again. Clicker was the best one to watch. The flips and tricks he was able to accomplish seemed like it was impossible f0or such a little dolphin.

But, when I was going to Hawaii I saw a huge amount of trash floating in the ocean. The more I flew over it the bigger it seemed. There were so many different things floating. But, the thing I saw most was plastic. It was a sea of different colors and trash bigger than Texas. Everywhere I looked there was more. From tires to water bottles to dead animals who had consumed the toxins and died. Then and there I wanted to scream and storm. I wanted to thunder over everyone who had caused this terror. I thought to myself just why? This is horrible!

Chapter 5

The Dessert

While I was flying over Mongolia’s Gobi Desert I stopped to see the Przewalski’s Horses playing. I was in bewilderment. I hadn’t seen them in so many years. A trailer attached to a truck had been pulled up to the edge of the herd. I watched worriedly about what they’d do to the Przewalski’s Horses. I held my breath scared. But as I watched them open the trailers something miraculously happened. Przewalski’s Horses came out of the trailer! I was in shock.

And as I watched humans release these animals back to where they belong and where they have always wanted to be, I thought, I can change the world. You can change the world. Anyone can change the world but we can’t without working together. We can try but, without being united we will fall and accomplish nothing. If we don’t accept our differences and help each other we will get nowhere in life. But, this all starts with you. I can’t do much but you can to save the world. We all can. So leave this and think about it. And think about how you will change the world. Not how you can, how you will.

Immigration

I think that the way immigrants are handled is terrible. These people have traveled across their countries and maybe even the world. And they come here for a new world with "gold roads" but find they
